The only surviving working watermill on the Island
The site of a mill since the 14th Century, Le Moulin de Quétivel is now the last remaining working mill in Jersey. It's restoration, completed by the Trust in 1979, received an award from the Civic Trust.
The first recorded watermill on the site was the property of the Crown in 1309, and since then it has changed hands and been rebuilt several times; the present building dates back to the 18th Century when milling was at it's peak.
The Mill ceased functioning at the beginning of the 20th century, only briefly being brought back into use during the German occupation. It fell into disrepair until it was burnt down in 1969.
Restored by the Trust
It was restored by the Trust in 1978 after having obtained a 99 year lease from the New Waterworks Company (now Jersey Water.)
You can now visit the Mill, enjoy some tea and cake and look around the historic interpretations reflecting how life would have been in the 18th Century.
There is also a small National Trust gift shop in the tearoom.
