The challenges we face
With its dramatic coastline, rich marine environment, distinctive vernacular architecture, and hedge lined country lanes, Jersey boasts a unique identity, charm and, above all, natural beauty.
Island under threat
However, its rural character, ecology, and built heritage remains threatened, possibly more than at any other time.
This is due to inappropriate development, creeping urbanisation, unsustainable rural land use and short term strategic and economic planning.
As a result, wildlife is in serious decline, the health of our environment is at risk, and peace and tranquillity are becoming increasingly elusive.
Safeguarding Jersey's future
The Trust seeks to champion and protect Jersey's natural beauty, rich wildlife, and historic places, so that they remain at the very heart of Island life.
We will do this through vigilance, sustainable management practices and by promoting and increasing awareness of the value of our countryside and historic environment to the Island's economy.
OUR CAUSE
How we're supported
The threats to Jersey’s wild places and historic buildings are as real today as they were when the Trust was established in 1936. As a local, self-funding charity, the National Trust for Jersey depends heavily on memberships, donations, and legacies for the funding of its essential programme of conservation management, ongoing maintenance, and repair works.
Without our many members and volunteers we would simply be unable to carry on with our important work. You can help to support our efforts by becoming a Trust member, making a donation, visiting our sites, participating in events, and hiring one of our properties for your next social event. Businesses are invited to consider becoming a corporate supporter of the Trust. We also encourage people to get involved by becoming a Trust volunteer.
