A major milestone
On Saturday, 28th April 2018, The Trust proudly opened the restored Foot Buildings to the public.
This achievement followed a decade of campaigning and two years of meticulous renovation in what has become one of the Trust’s largest undertakings.
These historic structures stand as a testament to the character of the period, preserved through careful restoration and the commitment of the National Trust for Jersey.
A new chapter with Locke’s Café
Today, Locke’s Café serves as a vibrant spot where visitors can enjoy coffee and fresh food al fresco.
Above, families now reside in apartments lovingly restored with period details that celebrate the building’s heritage. This fusion of public space and private living showcases the Trust’s commitment to preserving Jersey’s cultural legacy while bringing new life to historic spaces.
Legacy of generosity
This restoration would not have been possible without the extraordinary support of individuals like Mrs. Anne Herrod, Mrs. Mollie Houston, and Mr. & Mrs. Jack Trotman.
Their bequests, alongside the dedication of our team, have created a lasting legacy that honours Jersey’s rich heritage. We hope that our work here will stand as a tribute to their belief in the Trust’s mission and serve as a source of pride for generations to come.

Street of light project
Through the support of the Percentage for Art Scheme, the project transformed the near-derelict properties into a rejuvenated “street of light” that blends historical architecture with modern-day purpose.
The project received an award for Best Landscape Architecture in Relation to the Built Environment in the Jersey Architecture Commission Design Awards 2019.
